EXTRUSION, CUTTING AND FLAKING

The single-screw cooker-extruder enables to gelatinize the mixture of flours and to produce dough ropes. These are cut at distance into small cylinders which are processed in a flaking mill, where the traditional flake shape is obtained.

PRE-DRYING

It is the first drying stage. In order to reduce the surface moisture content, the flakes are heated while passing onto the vibrating floors of the shaking pre-dryer. This process also avoids that they stick together and it includes a tempering stage.

TOASTING

The flakes are hit by a flow of hot air in two separate stages so as to achieve the right expansion and surface gilding.

COATING

SYRUP PREPARATION

The unit is composed of two tanks: one for the preparation of  the syrup and the other one that serves as a buffer. The coating syrup is then dosed to the coating drum.

COATING

The product is sprayed with syrup inside a coating drum. The rotating speed and the drum inclination vary according to the desired residence time.
